Seemage 4.2 Tightens Links to CAD, PLM systems
Looking for a way to easily generate product documentation from your 3D models? Seemage Inc. is releasing version 4.2 of its design collaboration system with features aimed at helping companies more easily combine 3D CAD models with information in ERP, PLM and other core enterprise systems.
Seemage’s XML-based, CAD-agnostic architecture consists of: Seemage Viz, Seemage Mockup, and Seemage Publisher.
Highlights of the new release include:
• Automatic regeneration of downstream deliverables. The software automatically regenerates product documentation whenever the digital product definition changes without requiring any additional servers.
• Product Grabber, a feature that facilitates the creation of product documentation for different product configurations by combining Seemage-saved configurations.
• Improved search, for searching models and parts across all Seemage authoring and viewing tools.
• BOM fidelity, so all Bill of Materials (BOM) information is dynamically updated when product definitions change.
Those wanting to get a live peak at the Seemage 4.2 upgrade can register for a web seminar.

Light Matters: Systems Level Approach to HBLED illumination applications
Its good practice to apply a systems-level approach to high-brightness LED (HBLED) illumination applications. Minimally, the system includes the optical, thermal and electrical characteristics of the of the HBLED, the lens (if any) which is built-in to its package, secondary optics such as external plastic lenses/reflectors to direct the light as your application requires and power driver electronics.
