A tempered glass bottom on a new cantilevered walkway will allow visitors to the Grand Canyon to look 4,000 feet straight down to the Colorado River. It's 10 feet wide and extends 70 feet from an anchor rock. The Hualapai Indian Tribe's Glass Walkway features 90 tons of glass and a million pounds of steel. A grand opening is set for March. Another footnote for scientists: According to a blog (citing an AP report), the Bush Administration supposedly won't let park officials reveal their estimate of the age of the park for fear of offending creationists. . Seems a little far fetched to me.
