Toyota Hybrid pioneer dies in plane crash
What a bummer! Toyota Prius hybrid pioneer David Hermance died in a plane crash. As Toyota executive engineer of environmental engineering, the 59-year-old Hermance led the effort revolutionize engine technology.

a message for tieman55: Tact and respect for the deceased are obviously things you were never taught. That aside, hybrid technology will be around for awhile regardless of that some random website states. A major automaker must adopt a technology before it will be used. If what you say was a viable option, I am pretty sure that Toyota would be all over it.

Omnivalves.com website claims their new intake valve gives any 4 stroke engine so mucho low end torque that it makes hybrids oboslete...... so the hybrid may son die as well!

I had the honor and pleasure to interview Dave Hermance on several occasions. He was exceptionally knowledgeable and a very nice person to deal with, too. The auto industry has lost a great engineer.
