Trevor Andrews commented:

It sounds like the reverse of a Point Of Load converter, a Point Of Supply converter, probably incorporating MPPT, but built into each individual panel providing a fixed output voltage. But each panel autonomous to provide what power it can.

It sounds more like paralleling rather than a patented new technology or NS building a proprietary PV cell.

Is National developing a Maximum Power Point Supply controller? Are they developing a low voltage drop rectifier/ blocking diode? I hope so! Are they intentionally vague -in a market serving technically astute readers? I hope not! This announcement tells nothing and so far is a waste of time...

Light Matters: Systems Level Approach to HBLED illumination applications
Its good practice to apply a systems-level approach to high-brightness LED (HBLED) illumination applications. Minimally, the system includes the optical, thermal and electrical characteristics of the of the HBLED, the lens (if any) which is built-in to its package, secondary optics such as external plastic lenses/reflectors to direct the light as your application requires and power driver electronics.
