Indeed, Cadman-LT, hands-on is the only way to learn. As a journalist now 16 years into my career, I realize I learned more on the job than I ever did in school. I think this is also true in life. So the more student engineers can get their hands dirty in the field so to speak, the better prepared they will be for their careers.

Well, not only that but, just any project where the students get involved. Not reading a book. It's exciting to them and they WANT to learn. Books with projects....there you go. Not so boring.

Elizabeth, it's any project really. It's hands on stuff. Best way to learn IMO. We didn't really have such things back when I was in school. Best way to learn, hands-on! The real world is different than a book.

"I'm working on a couple of stories this week about new battery designs in fact."

Elizabeth, great. Looking forward for your new works.

Will do, Mydesign. I'm working on a couple of stories this week about new battery designs in fact.

"You're probably right, Mydesign, and that's the general consensus in the field, too, I think."

Elizabeth, any updates about recent developments in this area. Or keep posting when you have.

"Then again, battery storage also has been what's hindered EVs and hybrids, and that problem is taking a substantial amount of time to solve as well."

Elizabeth, all these factors are true and I think it may take years to realize the commercial production of such vehiciles.

Vote for your favorite student design using LUXeXceL's 3D-printed optical technology and you might also win a sample kit.
Winners of the ET Foundation's annual 2015 Aluminum Extrusion Student Design Competition came from students in industrial design, engineering and related fields, and met all four basic design criteria: creativity, practicality, process improvement, and market potential.
A group of college students will have their chance to show off their skills in robotics, mechatronics, and design in the annual Student Mechanism and Robot Design Competition held by the American Society of Mechanical Engineers.
The term “mechatronics” was coined by a Japanese company in the early 1970s, but only recently has the still-considered-emerging discipline become fully fleshed out at the academic level. Students are taught a multidisciplinary approach to problem solving, including a systems integration approach to design and modeling.
The big picture to this hands-on technology curriculum is to illustrate to students that the future of IoT and IoE (Internet of Everything) development can be created in today’s classroom.
