Their website doesn't reveal much but, as a designer and innovation specialist, I'm very excited about this!

We've really needed a technology that can take advantage of traditional skills.  Hands-on design was almost lost.  Something like this is true innovation that can lead to better design.

Elizabeth, you make a very good point.  As our "machines" become more sophticated we can do more complex things.  This type of feedback is one thing that has been missing from computer based systems, except in the simulator space.  What interests me, seeing these practical applications of haptics, is that the IEEE came out with a Transactions on Haptics just a few short years ago.  Now we are seeing the technology delivered.  Wow!

This shows how the gap between humans and technology is getting smaller and smaller, and how soon there won't be any interface between the two--it will just be integrated. Pretty amazing, but scary, too.

solidThinking updated its Inspire program with a multitude of features to expedite the conception and prototype process. The latest version lets users blend design with engineering and manufacturing constraints to produce the cheapest, most efficient design before production.
XYZ, Rabbit, and Disney innovate on the 3d printer in different ways -- from price point to using materials such as yarn.
MIT students modified a 3D printer to enable it to print more than one object and print on top of existing printed objects. All of this was made possible by modifying a Solidoodle with a height measuring laser.
