Ann, I am not certain just what I think about them in my area. BUT part of considering secondary results of actions is considering how things may be neutralized. Besides that, the cjhallenge of arriving at a way to neutralize whatever calls itself the authority is always entertaining. Not to do it, but to determine how it could be done. It is a challenge sort of thing.

Also, one of the things that I am rewarded for is finding ways to avoid what others may do. It's a problem solving sort of thing.

Ann, the material certainly sounded like it was created just for the drone manufacturing process. 

But if you really don't want drones in your area there are ways to discourage them from coming near you. Some of the ways are more subtle, while others are quite a bit lkess subtle. And don't forget that it is still possible to purchase some quite powerful IR lasers for a quite cheap price. And a blind drone is a harmless drone.

This isn't the first carbon-fiberglass hybrid, but it appears to be one of the less expensive ones. This company also makes all-carbon and all-fiberglass compounds.

Artificially created metamaterials are already appearing in niche applications like electronics, communications, and defense, says a new report from Lux Research. How quickly they become mainstream depends on cost-effective manufacturing methods, which will include additive manufacturing.
SpaceX has 3D printed and successfully hot-fired a SuperDraco engine chamber made of Inconel, a high-performance superalloy, using direct metal laser sintering (DMLS). The company's first 3D-printed rocket engine part, a main oxidizer valve body for the Falcon 9 rocket, launched in January and is now qualified on all Falcon 9 flights.
A new thermoplastic composite for high-speed, high-volume injection molding has tensile strength that's close to, and sometimes better than, either lay-up composites or metals.
Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory and MIT have 3D-printed a new class of metamaterials that are both exceptionally light and have exceptional strength and stiffness. The new metamaterials maintain a nearly constant stiffness per unit of mass density, over three orders of magnitude.
Smart composites that let the material's structural health be monitored automatically and continuously are getting closer to reality. R&D partners in an EU-sponsored project have demonstrated what they say is the first complete, miniaturized, fiber-optic sensor system entirely embedded inside a fiber-reinforced composite.
