On a more consumer-level scale is Florida Robotics' Dr. R.E. (Robotic Environmentalist) Cycler, which crushes aluminum cans in its chest cavity and compacts them to less than a (presumably cubic) inch in size. Pressing a green button opens the good Doctor's mouth, and pressing a red one closes it to begin the crushing operation, which lasts about 30 seconds per can. The remote-controlled Dr R.E. Cycler, designed for shopping centers and retail stores, has a range of 100 ft and can operate eight hours on a single battery charge.
