One very good argument presented in this article for Manufacturing's return to the US is the trend towards 'Mass Customization'.  Off-shore suppliers are very good at making high-volume, low-mix products.  However, as this trends towards mass customization grows, customers will demand more and more products specifically tailored to their personal desires and uniques needs.  All of this will drive individual product mixes towards high-mix, lower volume, which in turn will favor domestic manufaturing.

The term "multiphysics" is used to describe the simulation of multiple types of physics and their influence on one another -- for example, the investigation of the behavior of a chemical in liquid form will involve both chemistry and fluid dynamics.
