Elizabeth, my wife is a blonde, and she might agree.  I have a lot of friends who put redheads at the top of the list.  I never understood why.

I never saw the film in which Robin Williams played a robot but of course his performance would be even more relevant now that he's gone. It is a terrible shame, I agree. He was fantastic in so many films and will be missed!

Robots in the 90’s films

The best robots that I have ever seen are those that are featured in some of the movies that were produced in the 1990s. To date, most of the robots that are featured in the films are rather ominous. Last year, I was attracted by the preview of a certain movie, especially by the fact that it had robots. I then bought the movie so as to entertain myself but top my surprise I was super bored. This is because the robots portrayed were just but a menace. I strongly support the fact that the best robot films are those produced in the 90s.

Sad news about Robin Williams...

I always thought that he did a great job as Andrew... That plus the story line and slow evolution of his physical form on the screen in that movie helped to maintain the suspension of reality effect I love in good sci-fi.

I also like what they did with Robot in Lost in Space. It was modernize, but kept just the right amount of the original.

I never saw Virtuoscity, but I will soon as I can find it. Don't know how I missed it because I like Crowe... That wasn't a sleeper was it?

BICENTENNIAL MAN was a great movie and Robin Williams made a great job of it. The news of his passing is very sad indeed. He was such a talented actor, in my opinion, and I watched 'the angriest man in Brooklyn' several times since its release early this year. Considering it was themed around having a very short time left to live, I really hope he got to do the things he loved most. Will miss him...

Yes, it's interesting the perspective people had of robots during this time, if Hollywood is a mirror for public perception. Robots were deadly machines. It's so different than the uses we're finding for them today, thank goodness!

The Dutch are known for their love of bicycling, and they’ve also long been early adopters of green-energy and smart-city technologies. So it seems fitting that a town in which painter Vincent van Gogh once lived has given him a very Dutch-like tribute -- a bike path lit by a special smart paint in the style of the artist's “Starry Night” painting.
Ever wanted your own giant robot? Three engineers did, and now they want to make 15-ft, fighting MegaBots a household name.

For decades, engineers have worked to combat erosion by developing high-strength alloys, composites, and surface coatings. However, in a new paper, a team at Jilin University in China turned to one of the most deadly animals in the world for inspiration -- the yellow fat-backed scorpion.
