Excessive funding can buy engineers, licenses and progress.

It seems smartphones and tablets are raging past laptops in innovative features. IE: high-resolution, ips panels, onboard sensors. Hope they go into more work friendly devices.

Sounds like they're following a strong trend. The market for OTT set-top boxes seems to be growing right now. Apple TV and Roku are taking advantage of the move toward streaming content, and I'm seeing more and more of these boxes in homes.

Another application of the 64-bit ARM

Rich, this is another application of the 64-bit ARM processor that I am seeing.  It is interesting, but I am not sure that a 64-bit processor is necessary for some of these applications, yet.  The advantage of 64-bit is in the address space.  This is why ARM has not been seen in the server market.  Now with 64-bit it is possible to make servers that are really energy aware.  Companies like HP are working on these.
