It’s that time of the year. You know, that time when the sun is beaming and all you want to do is spend the months outside with your dog. Did you know that dogs can fall victim to heat stroke when the temperatures soar? Even with that coat insulator!
Japanese firm Petline has created a new product to ensure your pet’s safety this summer. The company's Heat Index Checker for Dogs monitors the temperature of a particular environment, such as your pet’s cage or its body heat, and will light up and buzz if the temperature puts your dog at risk of heat stroke. It is currently only available in Japan (and online, if you can read Japanese).
The device is roughly the size of a couple of sticks of gum and is currently available in pink. It works for cats, too.

That is great that healthcare is not just for humans, These days in our society people are working for the health of animals as well and this is really a great inititative it will help keep cats and dogs comfortable in hot sunny days. But does this device measures the temperature of the cage in which dogs are or the whole area as well.
Cabe, I have to admit, when I first read the headline, I thought you meant the FOOD "hot dogs." Of course, then I read it again and read the article. I think this is clever for my dog-owning friends (I have cats and they generally stay in the shade or indoors in the hottest times of the year). How would you measure the temperature on the dog itself? Hold the reader next to him/her?
