What's in a name really? It seems like IoT is a tsunami of sorts that won't be stopped and after reading ARM's latest findings, more businesses are adopting it than we previously thought.

Call it what you like, but plants are going through a fast -- nearly abrupt -- adoption of technology across multiple fronts. Most of it has to do with connectivity in one way or another, whether it's networks, analytical data, sensored everything, or automated everything. The result of all this comes down to one thing: greater efficiency.

Here at Avnet'd media day in Phoenix, Avnet executives were repeatedly asked about the Internet of Things and whether it was hype. Their response, was roughly "We don't know if it's hype or not, but everything is getting connected and we're ready for it."
