@taimoor: Yes indeed and the technology is improving in a very fast pace where we sometimes cannot remember the versions that got released in the past.

Indeed, shehan, perhaps some of these advancements are much better appreciated from a distance. I am sure I am not the only one who can be tempted by something new and interesting without thinking how it will impact my finances.

I think you're right, Pubudu. Some of the most interesting designs of these products likely will come from the minds of children. The future generation of engineers will certainly have a head start over previous ones with all the technology available to them already.

Yes, Shehan alot of companies are currently working on hologram imaging. I was reading the article few days back, few companies have managed to make holovisions of small sizes and are now trying to make large sized holovisions possible.

What about the use of holograms? Orianne Collins opened a store a few years ago in NY that used holgrams for easy shopping.  I think it closed.  2008 wasn't a good year for the luxury market.

Toyota had an impressive in-store presentation when it launched the Auris a few years ago too.

It would be great to see how the technology has progresed.

@Pubudu – Kids already have much freedom to innovation, they now have access to devices and information easily. I wonder what they will come up with 3D printing, their own toys.

@Elizabeth – I'm sure you would spend quite a lot on customizing your own bag. Impressive to see the technological advancements but not to forget that it will have an impact on your wallet.

Much has been made over the potentially dangerous flammability of lithium-ion batteries after major companies like Boeing, Sony, and Tesla have grappled with well-publicized battery fires. Researchers at Stanford University may have come up with a solution to this problem with a smart sensor for lithium-ion batteries that provides a warning if the battery is about to overheat or catch fire.
In this new Design News feature, "How it Works," we’re starting off by examining the inner workings of the electronic cigarette. While e-cigarettes seemed like a gimmick just two or three years ago, they’re catching fire -- so to speak. Sales topped $1 billion last year and are set to hit $10 billion by 2017. Cigarette companies are fighting back by buying up e-cigarette manufacturers.
