Valveless Hydraulics Cuts Fuel Consumption in Construction Vehicles

Purdue University professor Monika Ivantysynova and doctoral student Naseem Daher discuss research related to new hydraulic steering technology, while graduate student Michael Sprengel looks over the electronic controls of a front loader. An interesting idea.  There would be less plumbing; fewer hoses to dry out, seals to fail and losses from the hoses flexing during actuation.  I wonder if there is a weight benefit from the reduced plumbing too.
