This is interesting, Cabe. I always think of AI not as being part of the past but being alive and well, and this sort of project proves it. I think maybe it just hasn't gotten a lot of coverage but I think there are probably a lot of live AI projects going on. I think much of the focus, however, is in robotics now rather than pure AI. But I could be wrong.

Here's an area of development that I didn't expect at all. I thought computers would endlessly be street dumb. Maybe not. Pretty soon Siri will add to the end of her comments, "Just saying."
