The conference formerly known as ESC Boston was, and still is, one of my favorites. While it has a new name -- DESIGN East -- it still maintains all the embedded hardware, software, etc., that make it the go-to place for all things embedded.
The name change stems from the fact that there's more than just embedded systems at the show. Itís more like an umbrella title under which ESC resides. Some of the other events sitting under that umbrella include Sensors in Design (SID), and DesignMED, a conference for designers of medical devices.
DESIGN East takes place next week, September 18 and 19, at the Hynes Convention Center in downtown Boston, with a series of workshops the day before. The exhibit hall will be packed with embed-like vendors, and the theater will play host to various events, including one DIY event hosted by our own Karen Field. At last yearís show, Karen led a group of designers who each created a fairly innovative embedded system.
The usual ďcanít missĒ speakers will also be on hand, including Jack Ganssle, Dan Saks, and Rob Oshana. I always make time to hear these experts speak, as I always learn something new. I hope to see you there.
