A-Lock uses the shallow angle of two inclines for locking and requires no tools or extra parts.
Unlike other fasteners that require lock washers and nylon patches, a new patented vibration-resistant fastener uses isometric threads rather than the symmetric threads more typical of common nuts and bolts. Called A-Lock, the patented fastener self-locks when the nut encounters resistance.
This two-piece unit uses the wedging action of the thread's shallow inclines for self-locking. The nut turns freely until it contacts the clamping parts. Then additional turns engage the nut's shallow flanks with those on the bolt, wedging them into a locked position. Radial force acting on the inclines is greater than axial force, which achieves the clamping action.
