MONORAIL AMS integrated linear measuring system combines guidance and measurement into one unit. The AMS is operated with the SME100 interpolation electronics unit and offers resolution of 1 (mu)m. Standard accuracy grade is 5 (mu)m per meter with typical repeatability of ±1 mm. The AMS scan head glides on the magnetic scale, and the solid-state scanning element--housed inside a single piece of rugged titanium--generates two sinusoidal signals, phase-shifted by 90-degrees, and a separate reference signal. These signals are available either as 7-16 microamp current outputs or 1V p-p.
