The National Electronics Distribution Association posts a number of useful guidelines on its site. This includes everything from guidelines on how to recycle PVC in semiconductor packing to a product information sheet that works as a template for component suppliers to submit compliance information for lead-free parts to their customers.
SolderTec Global
SolderTec Global, which is presented by Tin Technology Ltd., includes information on lead-free solders and coatings from a global perspective. The site presents results on tin whisker testing as well as a view of compliance developments and technical information on lead-free developments.
IPC
IPC – The Association Connecting Electronics Industries – offers standards on tin whisker testing as well as guidelines on how lead-free components should be labeled. IPC has also released guidelines on how companies should communicate the material content of their components and finished products. In additional to standards and guidelines, the site presents research on tin whiskers, solder, components, and printed circuit boards.

This site is for diehards in tin whisker research. The site goes beyond tin to look at silver whiskers. Content includes an archive of older research as well as new contributions. The emphasis is on NASA applications, but the site looks at commercial applications as well. One interesting collection is a lost of real-world tin whisker failures including non-NASA satellites.
Component Manufacturer Sites
A number of manufacturers such as Texas Instruments present wide ranging information and industry links on the conversion to lead-free components and products. As well as presenting information on their own components, large component manufacturers such as Texas Instruments also gather useful information from across the electronics industry.
