Bosch Rexroth engineers combined the functionality of a VE2 stop gate with a pneumatic solenoid valve, an embedded microprocessor, three proximity sensors and an LED display in a self-contained package to create the VE2/MP stop gate. The single direct-wire device eliminates the time-consuming tasks related to system control installation, sensor adjustment and maintenance that previously involved at least 10 components. In addition, the integrated approach, termed SmartStop technology, provides extensive operations control and feedback to the user.
Installation simply requires bolting the VE2/MP onto the conveyor, attaching the air tubes and two (one male, one female) 3-wire M8 electrical cables. The two 3-pin connectors provide six I/O connections for improved control and feedback capability. The pneumatic connections include a 4-mm push-in for the input and 6-mm push-in for the exhaust. The unit operates from 4 to 6 bar (58 to 87 psi) pressure over a temperature range of 5 to 40C (41 to 104F).
The LED display indicates the operational status of the stop gate simplifying the initial setup and system diagnosis. With its embedded microprocessor, the integrated stop gate has two operating modes that provide greater programming flexibility and require less programming effort during debug and start-up. In addition, an error status signal provided to the PLC improves monitoring and control of stop operation.
