MOTION CONTROL: Omron Industrial Automation announces new Lean Automation Packs that deliver a fully integrated, pre-engineered solution for small machines that cut design and installation time by 50 percent compared to components sourced from separate suppliers. Each pack builds a complete, compact and scalable high-performance solution to handle either speed control with an AC drive (inverter) or position control with a servo drive and motor. All packs contain Omron’s CP1L micro programmable controller, NV3Q color operator interface terminal, CX-ONE Lite software, sample programs for most commonly used functions, time-saving Quick Start setup guide, S8JX power supply, cables, and components.
The Lean Automation Packs were developed in response to machine builder requests for a way to reduce the upfront design through commissioning costs to reclaim more profit from standalone, one-off and low-volume small machine projects. Two types of packs feature pre-engineered components that cover the range of capabilities found in most small machines. Speed Control and Position Control Lean Automation Packs are each available in three sizes to match machine requirements.
Omron eliminated the complexity of selecting, ordering, configuring and wiring automation components from multiple suppliers to achieve a lean result.
Parts selection has been pre-engineered to ensure they all work together efficiently.
The illustrated step-by-step Quick Start Guide with clearly labeled wiring diagrams reduces setup time and condenses hours of cross referencing manuals.
A single software package programs all the components, shortens the learning curve and provides an efficient platform for development, simulation, monitoring and commissioning.
Sample programs of the most commonly used speed and position control functions are included to further speed time to productivity.
Speed Control packs with AC drives come in ¼, ½ and 1 HP models. The 3G3MX2 AC drive offers high performance speed control of any NEMA class B induction motor. It can move high torque loads from a standstill. The built-in “Safe Torque Off” function provides protection against Category 3 safety hazards without additional control hardware for the drive and motor. Successful speed control applications for this AC drive include cutting & bending, pumps, conveyors, mixers, HVAC, gate control, spray & paint machines, grinding & polishing, industrial ovens, washing systems, and stretch wrapping equipment.
Position Control packs with servo drives and motors come in 200, 400 and 750W models. They provide highly accurate position control that meets high throughput requirements. Built-in vibration damping shortens transit time and improves position accuracy. Applications include cut-to-length machines, filling machines, labeling and printing, packaging equipment, rotary or linear indexing, sealing, and X-Y tables.
All packs include Omron’s CP1L micro PLC, NV3Q operator interface terminal, CX-ONE-Lite software, sample programs, Quick-Start Guide, S8JX power supply, complete documentation, cables and components.
