8000HP VFD to Hit North American Market

MOTION CONTROL: WEG Electric Corp. announced the release of the 8000hp MVW-01 medium voltage variable frequency drive.

With the first unit shipping in April, the 8,000hp VFD is the largest ever manufactured by WEG Electric. This expansion in capability doubles the HP available from the MVW01 drive. The MVW-01 features 99 percent efficiency and a 22-year mean time between failure (MTBF), the highest available in the market.

The MVW-01 is ideal for high-demand applications, such as mining, cement, shipping, iron metallurgy, and petro-chemical. Technologically advanced components, such as HV-IGBTs, are incorporated into the product to offer maximum reliability.
