The Associated Press is reporting this afternoon that a special grand jury has been convened to investigate both the construction and design of Boston's Big Dig tunnels as part of a criminal probe in to the tunnel ceiling collapse that killed a local woman in July.
According to the article posted on Boston.com this afternoon, a spokesman for the Attorney General's office confirmed the grand jury began hearing evidence Tuesday. They are expected to hear testimony from construction workers, their supervisors and ceiling designers, among others.
It will certainly be interesting to see what comes out of these investigations, who may be held responsible, and what missteps led to this disaster which made headlines nation-wide.
