Nordic Semiconductor's nRF51422 WLCSP ANT System-on-Chip
The nRF51422 wafer level chip scale package (WLCSP) is the world’s smallest ANT+ SoC. The chip provides ultra low power (coin cell) wireless connectivity using the proven ANT RF software protocol for compact wearable electronic sensors and devices such as smart watches, hearing aids, and smartcards.
Measuring 3.5 by 3.8 by 0.5mm (13.3mm2 footprint) the chip occupies 40% less board space than a QFN equivalent. When used in conjunction with a balun from STMicroelectronics, the total space saving are as high as 80%.
The nRF51422 WLCSP’s architecture includes low power radio, 32-bit ARM Cortex-M0 processor and 256kB flash + 16kB RAM. RX sensitivity is -96dB at 250 kbit/s and -85dBm at 2Mbit/s, and the device exhibits 13mA RX peak (at 1Mbit/s), 10.5mA TX peak (at 0dBm) and microamp average current from a 3V coin cell.
I agree. The slide show and technologies presented where awesome. I was really intrigued with Analog Devices wireless machine monitoring products. I can truly see an automation manufacter using their product to create and industrial internet thus having all machine peformance data available via the cloud. Great slides Lauren!
