I have a Jamie Oliver (UK celebrity chef) saucepan, which was made by Tefal, but clearly designed by monkeys. The pan is a good quality, robust item from the higher price end, but what they have done to save money is use the same handle on all sizes of the pan.
This approach is fine for the large, heavy cast aluminum pan, but on the smaller milk pan, it’s a disaster.
When placed on a flat surface, the small pan is stable. The problem occurs when it's placed on a standard gas hob where the pan support is four radial bars. The center of gravity is outside, where the base rests on the supports, and the pan, unless it's brimming with contents, almost always tips over onto the floor.
