We searched for the perfect fridge for our new home, and thought we found it, albeit for a pricy $2,500. This LG has a bottom drawer freezer and double-door fridge with both water and an icemaker totally within the left door. Cold air for the icemaker is routed up through a tube
from the bottom freezer to self-contained in-door icemaker. It seemed a great choice.
Only one problem… what happens when water is in the icemaker (yet to be frozen) and someone opens and then closes the door containing the icemaker? Splash. Oh, the water still freezes; just not in the tray. It freezes in the mechanism, on the stop bar, and on the previously-frozen cubes.
So, every few months, I dutifully remove the jammed icemaker (four screws, one ground wire and one wiring harness), thaw it all out, and return it to operation.
