Because of sensitivities to dusts and odors, my wife puts the A/C system in re-circulate mode most (all) the time. The A/C system will remember that when she turns on the air conditioning, the system should be in re-circulate mode. But, when she turns it off, she has to press the button to keep it in re-circulate mode - EVERY TIME. It won’t or can’t remember that it was in re-circulate mode just minutes before. Also, when you put it in defrost mode (I’m in Southern California, so it’s just to clear the ‘steam’ off the windows), it also won’t let it be in re-circulate mode. Why can’t I have control of my A/C unit?
I know that someone will say that it is more efficient to work the way it is, but it is certainly less efficient if I have to always press a button to get it in the mode I want it in. What happens when I wear out the motor that opens and closes the re-circulate door? Will Chevy pay for that? Only if it is in warranty….even though it seems to be a stupid design decision flaw.
I won’t go into the other situations I’ve encountered with this vehicle, such as fuel level sensor, steering angle sensor, windshield wiper motor (problem noted as early as 2003), unfixable wind noise (dealer three times) and fan belt idler pulleys. Based on this vehicle, GM should have been allowed to fail.
