Wirtel , i agree with you it is not hard and fast rule that this device will be used by elderly people but anyone who has propblem in taking medicines even there are people who have psychlogical issues in taking medicines they think taking medicines will make them more sick and depressed so they skip but this device is really helpfull for every one .
This is a great idea that solves a real problem. However, I think this is a problem that affects more than just elderly people. As one who was conditioned to take medicine only in response to being or at least feeling sick I still have difficulty remembering daily pills when I feel totally normal. When it is part of my normal routine, it is no problem, but when something knocks that routine off schedule my daily blood pressure medication often becomes an afterthought.
William, As you said about the user friendly interface definitely if this project succeeds then in future the interface can be changed and make it more user friendly .What matters initially is the purpose and when it is serving the basic purpose in future everything can be done to make it user friendly .
Thgis is indeed an example of a well thought out design project that can deliver actual value. It appears to solve a real problem with reasonable solutions, so that is quite worthwhile. These attributes certainly validate the value of the program for involving students in engineering.
What I did not see was very much about the user interface, especially the setup process, which is sort of critical to the functionality. More details would have enhanced the value of the posting to others is what I mean.

That is really great and it makes us feel proud by seeing what our young engineers are doing . Taking medicine dosage on time is a big issue for elderly people if ths system helps them not to skip a single dose definitely it will be an awsome work because in some cases skipping just a single dose can be very harmfull.
I am consistently impressed with the ingenuity of young engineers today, and this project is no exception. This is great, and your reason for embarking on the project is a noble one. My father is 80 and has a reminder box for taking his medications, but this solution would be a big help. Good luck with your future plans for it and other projects!
This is awesome guys. I appreciate your hard work and devotion for doing something for our elderly community. It's a very common problem being faced by almost every household. Missing a dosage of a medication can sometimes lead to severity of the illness and this device solves the issue perfectly. I am looking forward to get my hands on this device, so that i can hand this over to my grandparents as soon as possible. Keep up the good work.
Excellent post and great work. My parents are 91 years old and this problem is the top of the list when it comes to care giving. The pill box is not really the answer because the "patent" has to remember to take the pills. Prior to my parents moving into assisted living, I would go to their house on Sunday evening and load their pill boxes. As well and good--right? Well not hardly. Effectiveness of medications is dependent upon taking the medication. This device seems to solve that problem. I might add this is an excellent problem to tackle.
