And turn the power off! If you can't - keep one hand in your hip pocket and have some rubber-soled shoes on.

Tip: Don't stand in a bucket of water while repairing a live wire. Seriously, accidents do happen from complacency, best keep your head in the game while working with any electrical current.

GFCIs and fuses

This is a good reminder of the importance of teaching electrical safety to children and adults alike. I am a big fan of GFCIs and fuses to prevent much of the electrical concerns stated in the article. As a Mom of young children, I used to use plastic covers to childproof outlets. GFCIs are nice but it is also important to instruct children on the dangers of AC outlets in general since not all outlets have them and sooner or later kids will encounter outlets that have not been childproofed. Teaching appliance safety is a top priority as well (don't stick any metal objects in the toaster!) Periodic wiring inspections are a good idea but often hard to implement because of location.

In the last few years, use of CFD in building design has increased manifolds. Computational fluid dynamics is effective in analyzing the flow and thermal properties of air within spaces. It can be used in buildings to find the best measures for comfortable temperature at low energy use.
Feature-advantage-benefit could help engineers in how we approach design problems, how we sell our ideas to management, and how we market ourselves when it comes to jobs.
Many diverse markets take advantage of semiconductor IP; so many that no one can recite the entire list without leaving off several. So why do we track all the vertical markets? They all have a unique set of requirements and value attributes differently. One major vertical market segment is automotive.

Asking yourself the simple question, Is this a strength problem or a stiffness problem? can prevent many design mistakes.
