Yes, exactly, Cadman-LT. Yoga is a time to check out from the technological vortex we all get sucked into every day. I don't even think practicing with music is really appropriate sometimes. Much better to enjoy the silence, breathe and just be. At least, that's how I look at it! Hard to manage the monkey mind sometimes, though!

Well I agree with you Elizabeth. The first thing that came to my mind was....does tech belong in yoga? I don't even do yoga and tha's what I thought. Almost sounds like it might be defeating the purpose of yoga.

The Value Of Yoga Yoga focuses on meditation, deeper understanding and even the regulation of breath. One has to focus through constant practice and patients, riding your mind of any kind of thought. It is quite stunning how one can now b able to really visualize how they breathe and even how their heart beats. The yoga breathalyzer is yet another brilliant idea that enables one to visualize the breathing using the LED strip that output that gives the output. This strip also gives a simple, eye catching easy to understand output.

I agree with you, Cabe. I think those would be better uses. Personally, I would like to keep the technology out of yoga as much as possible. Maybe a bit of music is cool, but yoga is meant to be pure breath and movement to me. My weekly yoga classes are my one or two tech-free zones and I appreciate them so much more for this!

It's an interesting device but I'm wondering if it could be used for other purposes other than yoga. Like for test measurements for asthma patients or for swimmers who need to practice their breathing pattern between strokes.

I've also been practicing yoga for about that long, NadineJ, and I agree with you. It's an interesting gadget for sure, but I personally do yoga to get away from technology or thinking or analyzing anything too much. So this isn't really something i would be into, not to discredit the inventor or the creativity behind it.

I agree naperlou.  Control leads to more awareness.  But, I think the yoga label attached to the device is inaccurate.  It takes much more than just observation to lead to breath control in yoga.  From what I see, his device only gives a visual linked to the physical breath.

The device can stand on its own without the misnomer.  It's interesting but it has nothing to do with yoga.
