Being a bit of a cooler guy, since I have about a dozen ice coolers of various sizes for what I may need for any given event, I think this cooler is a great idea.  I tend to pack everything I can into my cooler of choice for convenience, including bottle opener and cups.  I prefer the hinged flip-open tops/lids, especially when more compartments are built into the lid.  I use a cooler for most events I attend, such as music concerts, sporting events, beach parties, pool, house parties, and also all overnight trips.

Although the article says "essentially a party on wheels", I don't see the wheels or a pull handle.  Wheels and pull handle on coolers is the best idea since sliced bread.  Coolers packed with ice and drinks can be very heavy, and why carry when it can be pulled (just like modern luggage).  I usually pull my cooler on wheels to my hotel room so I have my cold drinks ready, and to re-supply the ice at the hotel ice machine.

With the built-in speaker, that's one less item to bring separately.  I hope the speaker and electronics are environmentally protected since coolers are typically used outdoors in tough conditions, such as beach parties where there is much sand and salty moist air.

Certainly the copy-cats will come out with their versions, but that's competition for better products and competitive pricing.

I also built a phone stand out of a renewable material that is light, strong and easy to work.  It also has a low dielectric constant (about 2 - 3) so as not to interfere with the phone's internal antenna.  Let me recall the name of that remarkable composite?  Oh yes--Wood.

Lots of inexpensive solar car battery chargers available. Should be a breeze for readers of this blog to hook one up to the cooler for charging it in the wild.

@Cabe: Well even if it's a simple idea the price tag is not simple at all.

I love the Switch. Not only is the design unique and beautiful, but it also serves as a stand for the phone and tablets. Most of the times when watching a movie or a video we don't want to hold the phone or tablet for such a long time. The switch could come in handy, as not only will it be your stand, but also charge the tablet while you are watching a movie, hence the battery will be fully charged once you finish.

Great product. The coolest cooler is really pretty cool. The only flaw i find is the method of charging it's batteries. They should have integrated alternative options for charging the battery; they only have charging through car and wall for now.
Imagine if one goes on a picnic, parks his car somewhere, and goes for a hike to a mountain for camping, the battery would have no source of charging.

Add a solar panel. Maybe?
