Now here's a Gadget that could actually catch on and do some good for folks unable to do the basic tasks many of us take for granted. It's a "Toilet Paper Dispenser Deluxe Makeover!"
This patent-pending gadget preloads, folds and cuts metered lengths of toilet paper with a wave of the hand on the unit. It’s a handy gadget for anyone who suffers from the effects of a stroke, arthritis or other conditions that cause range of motion problems. It’s quite the Gadget. And of course it might even be something the average person might want whether it's due to laziness or the fact it's something new and different to decorate the walls of their bathroom. Maybe Roto Rooter might even make it part of next year's Pimped Out John contest? Now that would be something! Anyone agree?
William Grill's gadget can take energy from an alternate source (such as the sun) and increase the voltage to make the power useful in a wide range of applications.
To capture quick events, like the pop of a balloon, James Hartnett created a high-speed circuit that triggers a flash when movement or sound is detected.
Against a backdrop of mounting product complexity and a need to keep a lid on development costs, companies are recognizing a need to make simulation a more integral part of the design process. In response, vendors in the CAD world are building out CAE functionality as part of their CAD suites while simulation vendors are building tighter integrations to leading CAD tools. Keith Meintjes, Ph.D., Practice Manager, Simulation and Analysis at CIMdata, Inc., joins Design News CAD Editor Beth Stackpole in this radio program to explore the new face of integrated CAD and CAE, how companies are benefitting from this tighter partnership between platforms, and how integrating CAE earlier in the development cycle pays off in optimized product designs.
