TRA-CAST 9181J is a medium-viscosity epoxy designed for flame resistance. It provides low shrinkage and low coefficient of expansion and also cures at room temperature. Engineered to bond well to metals, plastics, and glass, 9181J also acts as an electrical insulating compound. As a low-stress epoxy, it can be used for encapsulating electronic components. The material can be machined, as well, for more usability.
The Matrix 900-µm fiber-optic boot offers bare-fiber strain relief and is available as a stock part molded from either 72A Durometer Sarlink™ or 55 Durometer Santoprene™. Featuring a 900-µm ID at the top, this boot measures 25.4 mm long with an OD of 3.8 mm at the base. The interior dimensions can be modified to meet user requirements. The boot can also be custom molded in durometers from 60 to 90 Shore A.
SC-2001 is a patented ECTFE-based composite coating engineered for use on metallic surfaces, with a maximum operating temperature of 300F. Coating thickness ranges from a nominal 0.045 inch on interior and wetted surfaces to a nominal 0.010 inch on exterior surfaces. For robust applications, it can also be applied at a thickness of up to 0.12 inch in order to provide adequate abrasion resistance.
Heli-Tube™ UV-resistant, spiral-cut, polyethylene cable wrap comes in a 11/2-inch size that is designed for bundling, organizing, and protecting large cable groups up to 10-inches OD. It is resistant to damage by direct sunlight, saltwater, fuels, oils, and detergents and it permits breakouts in any orientation. The Heli-Tube conforms to ASTM D-1044, Federal Specification LP 390 for abrasion resistance, and meets MIL-I-631D and MIL-P-26692.
For use in healthcare and air-venting applications, a hydrophobic PTFE media is designed with polypropylene and polyester supports. Emflon™ PTFE is produced using a lamination technique, and the resultant membranes can be used to create a barrier for microbes and particulate matter. The membranes have high titer reductions and water intrusion pressures. This helps the Emflon material repel low surface tension liquids while venting gasses.
The GF Series vinyl cap prevents contaminants and moisture from entering a grease fitting. A retaining ring holds the cap in place during servicing, and a locking mechanism inside the cap maintains a secure fit. The device is capable of resisting weak acids and various solvents and is constructed from low-density polyethylene. The standard color is red, and the center-to-center between the cap and retaining ring is 0.47 inch.
Silicone-on-polyethylene release liners for envelope or bag closures are cured using UV and E-beam chemistries to permit the use of low-temperature materials that can be easily formed. Featuring low- and high-density films, and gauges ranging from 0.25 to 30 mil, these liners provide good dimensional stability and surface smoothness. They are also die-cuttable.
Non-silicone CONFOR™ foam can be used as shock pads, spacers, or snubbers to protect components from shock and vibration with no silicone off-gassing. This semi-open celled foam insulates acoustics as well. Even in cushions less than 4-mm thick, the foam absorbs and dissipates up to 97% of shock energy, without recoiling or amplifying the effect. The 6 pcf material resists compression set and has a UL rating of HF-1 for flame resistance.
The TUFRAM family of coatings for aluminum combines the hardness of aluminum oxide ceramic with the properties of selected polymers. It provides aluminum parts with enhanced hardness, wear and corrosion resistance, and permanent lubricity. The hardness of treated metals can vary from Rc 40 to Rc 65.

Light Matters: Systems Level Approach to HBLED illumination applications
Its good practice to apply a systems-level approach to high-brightness LED (HBLED) illumination applications. Minimally, the system includes the optical, thermal and electrical characteristics of the of the HBLED, the lens (if any) which is built-in to its package, secondary optics such as external plastic lenses/reflectors to direct the light as your application requires and power driver electronics.
