TurboCAD® V7 from IMSI (Novato, CA) is priced and positioned as a direct competitor to AutoCAD, with features that allow users to add or subtract 3D parts from an assembly, see section-views of 3D models, retain part geometry, and even choose materials for variable "surface roughness" of 3D models. It is also Web-friendly, so users can save files as jpegs or publish them directly as HTML, and it offers interoperability with 27 other file formats. The package is available as a standard edition surface modeler, or as the Professional Edition solid modeler.
