When American football made its regular-season debut on the other side of the Atlantic, NFL executives wanted to make a big splash. Putting a 26-ft-high animatronic figure of Miami Dolphins lineman Jason Taylor in Trafalgar Square did the trick. The figure, designed in just six weeks by London-based Artem, even moved, thanks to Baldor's MicroFlex AC drives and BSM servo motors. Though the giant figure helped lure more than 80,000 people into Wembley Stadium, the hapless Dolphins could have used a larger-than-life defensive end on the field, losing 13-10.
