Customizing Guitar Playback With Handheld Effect Control
Terry Costlow, Contributing Editor -- Design News, December 10, 2007
Changing the sound of an electric guitar no longer requires plugging in to a number of different amps and special effect pedals. Instead, the pocket-sized POD family from Line 6 digitally models the tones of various amplifiers, effects and cabinets. The battery-powered Pocket POD mimics 32 classic and modern amp models, 16 cabinet models and 16 effects. If that's not enough, 300 sonic presets developed by musicians including 311, Maroon 5 and Dashboard Confessional provide more tone settings and another 5,000 presets are available at www.CustomTone.com. Editing software also lets users create their own presets. Freescale's Symphony audio DSP56364 provides the DSP and control capability.
