Bringing USB to a smaller package
Saelig's Micro-USB is made for connecting micros or circuits to USB, offering baud rates up to 1Mbps. The 0.7 x 0.5-inch device only needs eight pads on the target board in a 0.1-inch grid. It connects to a standard PC using a regular USB cable, and royalty-free drivers for major operating systems are available. It only needs ground, RX and TX signals, and works from -40 to 85C. A USB-serial interface allows USB to RS-232 and USB to RS-422/RS-485 converters, ideal for making legacy RS232 upgrades, PDA and cell phone USB interface cables, bar code readers, POS terminals, and other applications.
