CCD FOR BLINDSPOT VISION

HitchCAMFrameCAMRearview Camera System. Inventor David Mendoza was able to develop this automotive bolt-on rear-vision video system with a stable picture thanks to its Sony HAD CCD color camera. By "stable" Mendoza means there are usable images under low-light (1-lux) illumination and no washouts or flash lines in bright light. He says color provides greater image definition compared to black and white, and meets consumer expectations for modern video-based products. MODULAR TOOL EASES CHANGEOVER, SAVES ENERGY

Emhart Teknologies ProSet2100 POP® Rivet Setting Tool. Operators can easily replace the five component modules in this tool to allow off-line maintenance that keeps production going. For tool changeover, the nose is removable without wrenches; an O-ring both retains the nose and seals it. A needle valve/shuttle mechanism will turn off or reduce vacuum pressure (which holds rivets in the nose and collects the used rivet mandrels) automatically after several seconds to conserve electricity. STAINLESS CASE TAKES HARSH WASH

DVT Extreme Environment Legend XE Camera. This stainless steel case sealed to an IP68 rating for dust and harsh washdowns is more than an over-case around an existing camera. A mere substitution would take up extra volume and also mean the expense and potential failure points of redundant between-case connections. The case features specialized seals and eurofast power and Ethernet connectors. The smooth case is scratch resistant with minimal creases and edges that can trap dirt or food particles, facilitating wash down. FABRIC TAILORED TO SHIPBOARD FIRESUIT

US Navy Clothing and Textile Research Facility First Attack Firesuit. With a weight of 5.3 oz/yd2, versus 7.5 oz/yd2 for comparable materials, the heat-resistant Southern Mills Millennia SR outer-layer fabric allows this firesuit to fold up within its own pocket. The suit is compact enough to store anywhere on naval vessels. Previous suits required separate storage locker areas. Millennia is a form of Zylon® (www.zylon.com), being a blend of 40-percent PBO for heat resistance and 60-percent Kevlar® for strength. This outer layer covers a breathable PTFE central moisture barrier and an inner Nomex® filament lining. Project Officer:Harry Winer, nctrf@nctrf.natick.army.milhttp://rbi.ims.ca/3850-544

FILTERED LEDS POWER MICRO DISPLAY

World Wide Licenses Ltd SpyPen Oboe Digital Camera. RGB (red, green, blue) organic filtering material first developed for CCD imaging makes this camera's color micropixel viewfinder display possible. The Kopin Corp. CyberDisplay 113K EVF is only 0.16-inch diagonal across and consists of RGB subpixels 6.3 x 11.3 microns in size. Each of the 113,578 subpixels in the 10 mW display is a white LED covered by the appropriate color filter. Kopin claims it is the highest pixel density display yet. CONFIGURATION OFFERS SMOKE-FREE BARBEQUE

Omedec BIOGRILL. Designers gave this stainless steel barbeque grill a unique vertical arrangement. In a traditional horizontal grill, fat drops into the charcoal, producing carcinogenic benzopyrene that smoke and flame deposit on food. The BIOGRILL's central, vertically oriented charcoal compartment produces hot air that fins diffuse horizontally into a cooking grid on either side. Melted fat falls into grease pans below the food, not into the fire. Charcoal is replaced as needed in the top of the vertical compartment for continuous cooking. Light Matters: Systems Level Approach to HBLED illumination applications
Its good practice to apply a systems-level approach to high-brightness LED (HBLED) illumination applications. Minimally, the system includes the optical, thermal and electrical characteristics of the of the HBLED, the lens (if any) which is built-in to its package, secondary optics such as external plastic lenses/reflectors to direct the light as your application requires and power driver electronics.
