Linux supporters are making several moves to allay potential user concerns over the lawsuits filed by The SCO Group. The Open Source Development Labs consortium hopes to establish a $10 million legal fund with donations from concerned users and corporations (www.osdl.org/newsroom/press_releases/2004/2004_01_12_beaverton.html). Companies such as Novell Inc., which just acquired SUSE Linux Corp., are making sure customers won't be hit by legal issues (www.novell.com/licensing/indemnity). Novell recently established an indemnification program that protects them from copyright infringement payouts.
