Leading the charge of economic recovery in manufacturing, Kansas City is fast becoming a hotbed for jobs, according Jerry Jasinowski, President of the National Association of Manufacturers (NAM). Jasinowski cites $1 billion in capital investment and more than 2,000 new manufacturing jobs in the last two years, as well as 110,000 jobs in manufacturing overall—equal to the number of manufacturing jobs there 10 years ago—as evidence of good times to come. Kansas City has also been chosen as a pilot city for the NAM Manufacturing Institute's Careers Campaign aimed at increasing the number of young people going into manufacturing by 2010.
