Lawrence Livermore researcher Laurance J. Suter snared the Edward Teller Medal this year for his work on the design of hohlraums, the containers that hold the laser target during inertial fusion experiments. Suter's work has shown how scientists can improve the yield of ignition experiments and also led to the development of high-efficiency X-ray sources. He joins 20 scientists who have received the prestigious medal from the American Nuclear Society.
