Sensing fibers

These focused beam sensing fibers feature a particular convergent lens through which the beam detects and focuses on minute targets, especially useful in inaccessible locations. Available in fixed and adjustable sensing distance models, the beam fibers use the L4C6 or L4C20 convergent lens, focusing on distances of 6 mm and 20 mm, respectively, and detecting spot diameters as small as 0.25 mm. Signal conditioner

Model FLSC90-A fiber-optic signal conditioner is designed to work with the company's FP-9000 and FP-9000A series LIGHTSPEED™ paddlewheel flow sensors. According to the company, it allows for the paddlewheel flow sensor to operate in heavy electrical noise environments by using a semi- flexible duplex fiber-optic cable to pro-vide a light source. The signal conditioner measures returning light pulses and offers a proportional flowrate. OMEGA Engineering, www.omega.com. Enter 626

Digital storage oscilloscope

The DL750 ScopeCorder combines recorder-like measurements with digital storage oscilloscope (DSO) triggering and analysis capabilities. It offers engineers an instrument that can measure temperature, pressure, logic, and relatively high-speed analog signals, all within a single box. The DL750 includes a History Memory feature, as well. This enables users to go back, view, and analyze upward of thousands of previously captured waveforms. Inductive sensor

The 8-mm diameter Pile Driver is the latest addition to the company's popular series of inductive sensors. The Pile Driver is reportedly one of the smallest diameter all-metal inductive sensors, and it claims a life span 50 times that of many conventional plastic-faced sensors. Fully flush mountable, this inductive sensor's 100% stainless-steel housing protects against application hazards such as lubricants, cutting fluids, metal shards, and target impacts. Power supply lockout

The LOCKOUT 320™ secures equipment fitted with the popular IEC 320-type input power connector. This patented safety and security device will fit most computers, test instruments, power supplies, monitors, or lab equipment that use a removable power cord. The palm-sized, lightweight, simple device is made of durable nylon that accommodates a common padlock and features an elastomeric nose that bulges to firmly grip to the interior surfaces of the connector housing. Level control

The LLC8 Series is a low-cost, single-probe, liquid-level control designed for low liquid-level cutoff protection. This series offers a factory-fixed time delay of 1 to 60 sec and is available for input voltages of 24, 120, or 230V ac, 50/60 Hz. Its SPDT relay contacts are isolated from the operating and probe voltages. Entrelec SSAC, www.entrelecssac.com. Enter 630

Power cord

The NEMA 5-20P power cord, designed for equipment rated up to 20A with service at 125V ac, is UL listed and CSA certified. Applications include power servers, disk drive systems, and industrial equipment. It utilizes 3 × 12 AWG SJT cable and comes standard in a 2.5m length. It is also available in custom lengths, made-to-order cable terminations, custom stripping, and in custom colors. Panel Components Corp., www.interpower.com. Enter 631

Circuit protection

Designed for use in line voltage applications, the LVR series PPTC (polymeric positive temperature coefficient) devices are rated at 240V ac, permitting maximum voltages of up to 265V ac, and are available in hold currents from 50 to 400 mA. The thermally active devices can help protect against both overcurrent and overtemperature faults on the primary side of power supplies and transformers. The LVR device limits current in the event of a load-side short-circuit or overdraw, or improper in-coming voltage. Tyco Electronics, www.tycoelectronics.com. Enter 632

Touch panel

Resistive touch panels (RTP) in four-wire and seven-wire styles now include more than 200 different configurations of 2.8- to 17.1-inch (diagonal) panels. Primary RTP applications include desktop, notebook, and palmtop PCs; intelligent kiosks; portable instrumentation; voting machines; office equipment; process control; medical and financial equipment; and point-of-sale terminals. The seven-wire technology utilizes diode current switching of voltages applied to the glass to enable faster switching and more detections per second. Fiber optic amp

A photoelectric fiber optic amplifier performs multiple functions including object and contrast detection, background suppression, and automatic high-speed teach-in. With high-speed (HS), standard (nL), and high-sensitivity (1W) settings, the FVDK 10×69Y0 sensor allows users to reduce costs by using one sensor to perform in a wide array of applications. Offering high resolution, the amplifier can detect objects as small as 15µ using the high sensitivity mode, and transparent objects such as glass, foil, and wafers. Thermocouple

New 12-bit, dual-channel FieldPoint modules allow users to take type J and K thermocouple measurements. The NI FP-TC-J and NI FP-TC-K dual-channel thermocouple modules provide options to create flexible, distributed I/O systems that monitor temperature, as well as pressure, voltage, and discrete I/O. These dual-channel thermocouple modules are isolated module-to-module for up to 2,300V transient surges. National Instruments, www.ni.com. Enter 635
