Ultrasound elevator positioning

Non-contact positioning system communicates with the latest control systems.

Unlike switching technology or common encoder systems, the USP 30 non-contact positioning system relies on ultrasonic pulses to monitor cabin travel in an elevator shaft.

A signal wire, measuring as long as 30m, links transmitter and receiver. The transmitter, mounted to the cabin, generates an ultrasonic pulse in the wire. A microprocessor-based receiver, located in either the shaft pit or shaft head, converts the mechanical pulse into an electronic positioning value, detected as serial data information by the control unit.

Damping units installed at both ends of the signal wire neutralize the detected pulses. Cost effective and simple to install, USP 30 offers millimeter resolution at high travel speeds.
