Newton, MA—The supply chain economy is a big place. But what if you could meet with at least 7,000 members of that business world to learn and converse about the latest news…all without leaving your cube?
On October 17 and 18, the first annual SupplyChainLinkExpo will feature an online array of lectures, technology broadcasts, industry roundtables, and exhibits. This virtual tradeshow will offer attendees a choice of five pavilions, representing all the links in the supply chain—design, plan, source, make, and move.
Wander into a pavilion, and you can search for vendors, browse product aisles, and experiment with interactive exhibits. See something you like? You can drill down by watching movies, listening to audio presentations, downloading data, and even clicking a button to have a company representative phone you immediately.
Invitations to this show are extended to the staff, advertisers, and million-person readership of Cahners magazines: Purchasing, Supply Chain Management Review, MSI, Logistics Management, Industrial Distribution, Modern Materials Handling, Control Engineering, Warehousing Management, Plant Engineering, and Design News.
"The supply chain field is far-reaching, touching almost every aspect of our economy," notes Rusty Piersons, Supply Chain/OEM Group vice president. "Our brands each serve the informational and marketing needs of distinct sectors of the supply chain."
The event is projected to attract well over 7,000 registered attendees, none of whom will have to leave their office to attend. "We aim to provide all the information and benefits of attending a premier tradeshow and conference, but without the hassles of airports, hotels, and time away from the office," notes Mitch MacDonald, group director of editorial and content development. "Each day will feature a series of speeches, discussions, and seminars. It truly is a virtual event that will mirror the best of the real world," he adds.
Daily keynote speakers include a first-day presentation by Thomas Stallkamp, CEO of MSX International and former president of Daimler-Chrysler. Stallkamp rose from a beginning buyer at Ford in 1972 to the top procurement job at Chrysler, where he was named president in 1998. He is currently CEO of MSX International, a firm that handles major engineering projects on a contract basis and that is considered a leader in supply-chain efficiencies.
On October 18, the Day Two speaker will be W. James McNerney Jr., CEO of 3M Corp. McNerney was previously president and CEO of GE Aircraft Engines, a world-leading supplier of jet engines with more than $20 billion in annual revenue.

Light Matters: Systems Level Approach to HBLED illumination applications
Its good practice to apply a systems-level approach to high-brightness LED (HBLED) illumination applications. Minimally, the system includes the optical, thermal and electrical characteristics of the of the HBLED, the lens (if any) which is built-in to its package, secondary optics such as external plastic lenses/reflectors to direct the light as your application requires and power driver electronics.
