Small-lot, color-matched compounds

 

New York--In an effort to service small-lot customers and distributors, Bayer Corporation has licensed LNP Engineering Plastics to color match, manufacture, and sell 110- to 5,000-lb quantities of unfilled thermoplastic compounds. Under this agreement, LNP manufactures and sells small lot colors of Makrolon(reg) polycarbonate, Bayblend(reg) polycarbonate/ABS blends, Lustran(reg) ABS, and Makroblend(reg) polycarbonate/PET blends under its Colorcomp(reg) line.

"For the custom molder, this means reduced inventory, shorter lead times, and critical color accuracy," explains Colorcomp Product Marketing Manager Matt Miklos.

UL certification is another benefit. "When you add color to flame-retardant resins, the UL rating is no longer valid. However, UL certifies that the material has been precolored by LNP and has been resubmitted for full certification."
