In the June 22, 1998 issue, Design News introduces "Instant Fulfillment," a program allowing engineers to obtain advertiser product information right off the web. More than 50 advertisers will participate, providing product pages and links to their own company web sites.

With Instant Fulfillment, Design News places a unique web address under each advertisement, next to the reader service number. The web address gives readers access to electronic versions of the company's product brochure pages, the same information that they would have received if they sent in the reader service card. Readers can then link to the Design News home page, the company listing in the online directory, or to the company's own web site. This enables them to receive the company and product information immediately.

The electronic brochure is available on the web for 90 days, which coincides with the normal life of each issue of the magazine.

Keep an eye out for the Instant Fulfillment web addresses in the June 22 issue. Readers will be able to identify participating suppliers by a starburst indicator in the ad or a special web address that begins with http://www.instant1.com.

Larry Maloney, publisher of Design News, feels that this is just what design engineers have been waiting for. "Design engineers are under increasing pressure to develop projects faster then ever before," says Maloney. "They need information to help them move quickly. Instant Fulfillment is the perfect way to retrieve data needed to design products efficiently and cost-effectively."

Time pressures and keeping up with the pace of technology pose major challenges for engineers, which is why they turn to the web to locate technical information on products. Instant Fulfillment is a way to help them dramatically shorten the time it takes to obtain product literature, relieving some of the time pressure for staying up to speed. Readers get the information they need when they need it, rather than later. Timely information can make the difference between a successful or unsuccessful design.

For 52 years, Design News has delivered must-have information to design engineers across the OEM. As they turn to the World Wide Web to expand their information base, Design News will continue to offer valuable solutions. For more information on Instant Fulfillment, go to http://www.instant1.com.
