Snowshoes warm up wintertime fun

Alex, France--Winter sports lovers eager to try new, healthy outdoor activities should find recently introduced snowshoes from a French company just the ticket. Made of lightweight, injection-molded polypropylene, the TSL snowshoes combine strength and reliability with a convex shape that prevents bothersome snow buildup on either side.
Each model offers several other features that ensure trouble-free hiking, even in challenging snow conditions and over difficult terrain. They include: steel crampons attached to the shoe base that resist temperatures as low as -20C (-4F) for traction on icy or hard-packed snow; radial snow fins that aid walking in deep powder; and a binding system that exhibits excellent grip in traverses or when scrabbling up steep slopes.
An assortment of models make the shoes an easy fit for various users and conditions. For instance, the TSL 510 fits children, the TSL 710 adapts to lighter-weight adults or firmer-packed snow, the TSL 810 accommodates heavier weights or powder-snow use, and the TSL 225 multi-purpose shoe is designed for steep, irregular terrain.
Different bindings also adapt to differing needs. The Trappeur model, a high-strength, expandable-rubber shoe, conforms to any kind of boot. The Rando binding, designed for use with hiking, pack, and after-ski boots, features a climbing arc for steep ascents and a heel lock for descent and jumping. And the Aventure binding, built for extreme terrains, adapts to mountaineering boots notched in the heel and toe.
