Sanarus Medical Uses Cryoablation to Freeze Tumors
Freezing makes tumor removal outpatient surgery

Removing breast cancer tumors is a serious operation that takes much preparation and recovery time. At NIWeek 07, Sanarus Medical Inc. is demonstrating a cryogenic solution, freezing tumors using a small probe that’s inserted through a minor incision, leaving a tiny scar. The technique also lets doctors remove tumors in their office, while the small incision means recovery times are minimal.
The Sanarus cryoablation uses liquid nitrogen, freezing the tumor with an ice ball that grows on the probe. The system, developed by a four-person design team, is now going into production.
