Motor + drive = solution

Kevin Russelburg -- Design News, July 10, 2001

Wednesday, December 6, 2000

Rockford, IL--Danfoss Drives has consolidated a motor and drive to create their FCM 300 Series Integrated Motor/AFD solution. Typical applications include conveyors, pumps, packaging, and bottling. The inherent properties of the integrated drive and motor package allow OEMs and end-users to downsize panels or reallocate the space that was once taken up by a drive. Other advantages include reduced installation cost, because no wiring is necessary between the drive and motor, and ease of service to the unit by having only two components to be separated and replaced.

"These benefits enhance the growing popularity of integrated control packages where traditional individual components such as controllers, PLCs, VFDs and motors are being integrated into single, stand-alone solutions; ultimately saving the consumer time, space and money," Erica Herdey, product manager.
